[Album] LIZ: "Just Like You"
LIZ has been popping up all over our radar since just before the start of the new year. The Los Angeles-based Mad Decent signee may very well be the best example of the theory of a "twenty year loop" in fashion, media, art and music. Her website literally has the Millennium embedded into the title and is a templated Google Image search page. Her music pulls from the early 2000s, adding the grungy dance vibes of today's EDM world with the angelic-ness of artists like Aaliyah to produce a sound that is described on her Mad Decent profile as "reminiscent of that perfect Pop/R&B tune from the 90s that you couldn’t wait to burn onto a CD so you could play it endlessly in your car after dropping your summer crush off at their house." Great imagery there. Honestly, just try LIZ on for yourself. Her project, Just Like You hit the Internet yesterday and the complete, seven-song project is sure to be talked about for some time. Pick it up/listen below!
[Songs of the Day] 2/27/14 (Feat. Chance The Rapper, King Krule, LIZ & More)
It got colder in the Midwest today. And new music came out. As I sit shivering at my computer, I can only be glad that the Internet brought us some heat today. Ace B8gie gave fans a new version of the instant classic "Fuck A Plan B" enlisting the likes of Creative Control, Young Giftz & Saba for the remix while Chance The Rapper hopped on the soundtrack to the new movie "Divergent" by hopping on "Fight For You" with Pia Mia. Zella Day gave listeners a light new song in "Sweet Ophelia" and RAC released "Tear You Down" featuring Alex Ebert. Evian Christ dropped the first single off his upcoming album in the glitch-filled ride that is his latest track, "Waterfall" and LIZ celebrated the drop of her project in style, tapping Tyga for "Don't Say". We also got a remix of King Krule's "Neptune Escape" from Travi$ Scott and another solid new track from newcomer Joyner Lucas in "Jurisdiction".

LIZ: "Horoscope"
LIZ is an upcoming California native songstress whose music gives us a late ‘90s, early 2000s pop feel that isn’t really anything to complain about, given the fact that we see modern music culture being so inspired by that era right now.
She has had past experience working with Riff Raff on one of her songs, “Underdogs,” which hit the mainstream back in January. One of her songs, “XTC,” was also one of the 98 songs featured in @Diplo’s “Endless Summer Playlist.”
Below, LIZ gives us a slight deja vu moment with her latest track “Horoscope” that complements Janet Jackson’s “I Get So Lonely”. Off the bat, this track definitely sounds like one for the ladies. It’s actually a song we would have all enjoyed in our teenage years blasting from our stereos. Next week, LIZ will drop her new single “Hush” with Jeffrees (Mad Decent’s label). With a couple of notable cosigns from music heavyweights, I suggest keeping up with LIZ as she makes her way into the industry.
