Joseph Chilliams wins with Henry Church

Pivot Gang's Joseph Chilliams released his debut mixtape, Henry Church, about a week ago and then celebrated with a sold out show at Schubas. The project, which consists of 13 songs and features homies such as MfnMelo, Saba, NoName, and others, is cohesive project chock full of pop-culture references, regular-guy observations, and a fun energy throughout. That's not to say that Henry Church is devoid of seriousness or melancholy. Many of Joseph's observations are told with an air of concern and a subdued tone, especially when remembering John Walt, who was tragically killed last spring. From the cover art, to the videos, to the music, it is clear that Chilliams is serious in not taking himself too seriously. And he's winning. Enjoy the project via Soundcloud below.

[RH First Glance] John Walt: "Liu Kang"

Pivot Gang has been making some noise out of Chicago lately, with the rise of artists like Saba and a well-formed project in Jimmy, the crew is beginning to put its foot firmly in the door of Midwest hip-hop. The track is a solid entrance to an emerging artist part of one of the young up and coming collectives doing their thing in Chicago. [Mixtape] PIVOT Gang: "Jimmy"

In addition to their respective solo work, the guys holding it down for PIVOT Gang have been working on a compilation 'tape for almost two years.  Today, Saba, John Walt, MfnMelom, Joseph Chilliams, Frsh Waters, Sway $wala and Kevo B are finally ready to share their latest opus and just released Jimmy. Containing a whooping 20 songs, Jimmy gives all members in the group a proper platform to showcase their talent and unique abilities, while complementing each other with a palatable synergy only they can muster up.

You can stream Jimmy below and download the mixtape here.

PIVOT Gang: "Aqua Teen" (Feat. Tiffany Capri)

The guys over at PIVOT Gang may not be the most recognizable crew in Chicago at the moment; nevertheless, with every new release from their upcoming project, JIMMY, they solidify themselves as a force to be reckoned with in the local scene. "Aqua Teen," their latest single, might be their best yet. With production credits going to Saba and Mausi, and a smooth chorus provided by Tiffany Capri, this joint will surely appeal to a much bigger demographic than their previous records.

PIVOT GANG: "Everytime I"

Here's a new posse cut by the PIVOT collective as they gear up to release their debut mixtape as a group. "Everytime I" was produced by Saba and he's joined by MfnMelo, Joseph Chilliams & John Walt on the mic.

[Video] PIVOT Gang: "Daddy's Home"

PIVOT Gang is not playing around with their upcoming compilation 'tape, just days after releasing the mp3. for "Daddy's Home", the team is back with a slick new visual for the track. Director Jay Caves does a great job with the scenery and shots while proving how deep they always roll.

PIVOT Gang: "Daddy's Home"

For a long time Chicago's west-side had been lacking proper representation in the Hip Hop scene, but in the past two years has seen a lot of talent starting to rise with young up-and-comers such as Dally Auston, Lucki Eck$ & Pivot Gang. The latter is wrapping up the final details on their compilation 'tape due out later this Summer and "Daddy's Home" is their first single, in which Saba, John Walt, and MFnMelo rock over production by Saba and showcase their unique sound.
