RJD2, STS & Khari Mateen: “See You Leave” (Insane Warrior Remix)

As end of the year lists continue to roll out from all over the internet, I have yet to see RJD2's More Is Than Isn't LP pop up on many people's favorites of 2013. Perhaps it was that this was the year I finally caught RJ do his thing live, but with each listen, his latest offering seems to hook me in more and more. Since the projects release in October, there have been a steady stream of off-shoots, one-offs and remixes. Today, Okayplayer premiered RJD2's collaboration remix with STS and Khair Mateen for the track "See You Leave". The track bears RJD2's alter-ego, "Insane Warrior" for the gritty intro that can leave your ears shaking while frequent collaborators STS and Mateen prove they know where the other will be heading with any track as they add their own unique elements to make the re-done version come together in full. Check out the track below, with upcoming tour dates, and cop More Is Than Isn't available now on iTunes.

Grizzly Bear: "Will Calls" (Diplo Remix)

The Grizzly Bear team got the Diplo treatment today for their track, "Will Calls" off the sonically beautiful 2013 release, Shields, for which they dropped a remix project earlier this month. Diplo slows things down on this one, opting for careful, slow-moving beat aesthetics instead of the "Bubble Butt" twerk-inducing vignettes he is known for. Check out the track here below.

Tritonal: "Now Or Never" Feat. Phoebe Ryan (Pierce Fulton Remix)

Dance music duo Tritonal first caught my attention earlier this year as I was slogging through a soggy and overcast Electric Daisy Carnival Chicago in Joliet. The pair's uptempo production, exciting breaks and actual stage presence kept things going strong through the rain during one of the more precarious sets of the weekend. Their ability to stick it out won me over and today they got a remix of their track "Now or Never" featuring Phoebe Ryan from Pierce Fulton. Fulton holds on to Ryan's memorable vocals while adding a gritty, funk-filled electronic resonance as well. Check out the track below for yourself.

LoudPvck, Branchez, Gent & Jawns, and Manic Focus have been announced as tour openers.

Chance The Rapper: "Cocoa Butter Kisses" Feat. Vic Mensa (Stefan Ponce Remix)

Stefan Ponce has been making hip-hop music in Chicago for a minute. The new father dropped his remix to Chance The Rapper's cigarette anthem, "Cocoa Butter Kisses" off his colossal Acid Rap release earlier this year. Ponce starts things off by accentuating the thunderous keystrokes of Peter CottonTale that set the tone of the track, before steadily taking things up a notch and turning the melodic song into a bonafide dance track. The break gets some funky synth work that makes "Cocoa Butter Kisses" a different kind of fun adventure throughout, playing with Chance's idyllic "nana's". Vic Mensa's verse, one of the highlights as far as features go on Acid Rap sound intrinsically Innanetape-esque with a double time shaker and increased bpm pushing the verse and track in a different direction. Check out the fun, creatively different remix of "Cocoa Butter Kisses" by Stefan Ponce, below.

Krewella: "Live For The Night" (Danny Avila & Deniz Koyu Remix)

Talk about a rise in a year. Chicago-bred dance music threesome Krewella has blown up since hitting the scene in late 2011 with their debut EP, Play Hard, which was met with rave reviews and slots on seemingly every major stage there was this summer for an EDM act. Today, the trio gets the remix treatment on their track "Live For The Night". The song gets re-arranged and done up by the talented pairing of Danny Avila and Deniz Koyu. Check it out for yourself below and pick it up on BeatPort.

Lili K: "Something Special"

Who's your something special? Sultry soul songstress Lili K shares with us a song about her personal "Something Special." Taking Rockie Fresh's "Something Special" off of his Electric Highway, Lili leaves her own stamp on the song's instrumental with production and mixing help from The Upper Classmen and Elton Cheung at Classick Studios. Burn "Something Special" on to a CD, walk over to your loved one's house, and hold a boombox over your head to show them they're your own something special.

Lupe Fiasco

Lupe Fiasco: "Pound of Flesh/Paris Tokyo 2"

If you've been following the site lately then you may have noticed my growing disdain for Lupe Fiasco. His actions on Twitter and general sidelines view of the hip hop game has pushed me away from the Food & Liquor artist in a hurry. As of late, Lupe has offered his own versions of other artists tracks ala Lil Wayne No Ceilings or Dedication without the forethought. This time, Drake's "Pound of Cake/Pars Morton Music 2". It's another Lupe track for the most part, until Fiasco does a roll call of who's who in Chicago, ala Kendrick Lamar and "Control". At the end of the track he recites: "Everyone in Bull City eating like a pig, let's do it: Durk, Mouse, Paris, Keef, Boolu, Dub, Pharris, Drama, Common, Flict, Ye, Chance; Illinois, Lupe

Yeezus Remix Album Featuring Miley?

Yes, apparently it's a real thing. As much as it pains me to post the words "Miley" and "Cyrus" and add to the cacophony of airy, garbage-filled commentary on her recent VMA performance, the New York Post reported today that Kanye and Cyrus very well may be working together on a Yeezus remix album, quote below.

"After tormenting the Twitterverse with her twerking routine at the VMAs, Miley Cyrus went right into the studio with Kanye West to record a remix of his song Black Skinhead, Page Six has exclusively learned. Cyrus skipped her own VMA after-party at No. 8 and went into the studio for what her reps described as a late-night, top- secret collaboration, which sources said was with none other than West. The Yeezus rapper was one of the few artists not spotted out at Jay Z and Diddy's bash in New York, which went into the early hours of Monday. West was also said to have headed straight to the studio after the MTV event at Brooklyn's Barclays Center. We hear Cyrus will appear with West on a remix of Black Skinhead, due to be part of a remix EP that will be released later this year. West was due to perform Skinhead at the VMAs, but reportedly changed his mind at the last minute to perform the haunting track Blood on the Leaves, at which time viewers only saw his enlarged shadow rapping against a backdrop of a forest." --New York Post
