Adventures of Miniature Star Wars Characters by Zahir Batin

Adventures of Miniature Star Wars Characters by Zahir Batin

Photos by Zahir Batin

In tribute to the legendary cultural phenomenon that is Star Wars, Malaysian photographer Zahir Batin created miniature scenes with stormtroopers acting out their adventures and everyday lives here on Earth.

To make this happen, Zahir arranged various miniature stormtroopers and other Star Wars figurines, and shot them up close to make them seem like actors in his very own Star Wars-themed adventures. Some of them are dramatic or suspenseful and others are even humorous, like R2D2's run in with a baby chicken.

On Zahir's facebook page, he goes even further by sharing the behind-the-scenes work that goes into each image, including some of his techniques. Aside from photoshop, his use of strings, wires and twigs to position his characters makes it all the more entertaining.

Adam Driver To Play Villain In New Star Wars

Adam Driver has recently been rising in his own popularity. With a Gap modeling deal, a small role in Inside Llewyn Davis, and his important role as Lena Dunham's character Hannah's boyfriend on the hit HBO series Girls, it seems as if he's striving to become a household name. In the midst in these efforts, sources told Variety magazine that Adam Driver is close to signing a deal for the villain in J. J. Abrams' Star Wars: Episode VII.

While nothing has officially been announced, 30-year-old Driver appears to be the first of any casting Disney has revealed for the latest Star Wars installment. It's scheduled to shoot at London's Pinewood Studios in April. Within the next month more of the major cast members will be announced.

The role of the villain that Driver will play has been rumored for the past few weeks in the casting process, but it seems that he has risen to the top of the list for the actor to play the part. A major cause for delay has been his main acting project on Girls. The HBO comedy series production schedules for Season 4 and future series were causing scheduling conflicts, but sources revealed to Variety that the issue was taken care of and a deal will be delivered shortly.

Driver has a lot of other projects in store for viewers though. Right now he is filming Midnight Special with Warner Brothers and is attached with Martin Scorsese's next project Silence. Another film of his, This Is Where I Leave You, will be coming out this upcoming fall.

Stunning Burlesque Style Twi'lek Cosplay

Photos by Marianna Orlova

Star Wars fans know that there are few things as graceful as a female Twi'lek... simply walking with a pair of lovely female Twi'lek's is a sign of influence and wealth. On top of that, the entire humanoid species is naturally quick and cunning, making them one of the most known races in the whole Star Wars universe.

Although Twi'lek characters come in all walks of life, one thing Star Wars fans haven't seen is an original burlesque style Twi'lek cosplay, and the following photo series is just that. The idea was devised by Russian cosplayer Valentina Leontyeva who collaborated with photographer Marianna Orlova, creating an alluring photo series full of soft color, draping in pearls and femininity. The idea for this humanoid is captured so amazingly well, I think George Lucas should take a look. What do you think?

Pixar Rumored To Create Star Wars Film

If there's one filmmaking company that thrives off of franchise, it would be Disney. With the recent acquisition of the Star Wars franchise, there have been a multitude of rumors going around as to what will become of the legendary series. Rumors of TV shows, new comic books written by Marvel, and spin-off movies for certain characters have been leaked here and there, but none of them seem to top the combination of these two highly profitable franchises.

When it comes to details about the film, there is very little to be known at the moment. Pixar's plate is currently full for the next few years: Inside OutThe Good Dinosaur, and Finding Dory are all lined up for 2016. The company is notorious for taking their time with each production, so it could be years before a movie like this is even released.

It would be completely logical for the two successful franchises to team up and create a movie; however, there has yet to be an official statement from Disney, Lucasfilm, or Pixar, leaving the statements nothing more than rumors. Meanwhile, the immense amount of fans will remain biting their nails until a confirmation is released.

Star Wars Scenes Recreated With LEGOS

I don't know if there is a resurgence in the popularity of LEGOS or if  its just a rediscovery of a childhood toy, but they've been comig up a lot lately. Last week I posted about a website dedicated to iconic album covers pixelated with LEGOS and now it looks like someone else has created their own art composed of the popular toy. Vesa Lehtimaki has taken LEGOS and recreated several scenes from the movie Star Wars The Empire Strikes Back and it's pretty impressive. You can see by the photos that these scenes took time and that the artist paid great attention to each of the fine details. Check out some the scenes he recreated and for more of this artists work visit his web site here.

New Star Wars rumors hint at new story direction, casting choices

When J.J. Abrams and Lawrence Kasdan took over writing duties for Star Wars Episode VII, it was unsure as to how much of previous screenwriter Michael Arndt's story would be changed and altered. As it turns out, major edits are being made as new rumors were released over the weekend indicating the changes.

The major rumor swirling involves the film's entire direction, affecting the entire proposed trilogy and casting choices. For instance, when J.J. Abrams was first announced to take over the film, Episode VII was rumored to focus on Jacen and Jaina Solo, the children of Luke Skywalker and Leia and Han Solo. For instance, casting calls that took place in November were calling for roles that required younger actors; now, it appears that the focus of the film has shifted towards the older cast as a means of giving them a proper send-off while introducing new characters that would take them helm for subsequent films.

Keeping in line with the rumored story edits are some of the actors Abrams and Kasdan are considering. Reports indicate that Breaking Bad's Jesse Plemons is being eyed for a major role. Other rumored names that have come up in the past, including Saoirse Ronan, Benedict Cumberbatch, etc., have reportedly had meetings with Abrams and Kasdan, as well as new names Michael Fassbender and Hugo Weaving.

The Star Wars picture is slowly taking shape, and with the large names rumored to be attached, it could make the franchise's Disney debut that much more memorable. We'll keep you updated as new information arises.
