RH re-Up

With the first week of school finally over, its time to take a deep breathe, sit back and relax, and kick off the weekend with this weeks’ Re-Up. This week at RH we’re bringing you everything from the latest fashion trends to the hottest music updates and several in-depth interviews with some on the biggest names in Hip Hop.  Brought to you by one of our favorite fashion friends and just in time for fall, Karmaloop.com has put together its newest look of the week.  This must-have look includes show-stopping brands like Android Homme, WeSC and 10.DEEP. To check out this new get-up and peep their massive back-to-school sale, click here . Besides hooking you up with the latest trends for the new school year, we also decided it was time to fill you on the basics of what makes a good hip hop interview. After watching Bill Maher interview Jay-Z with the same old questions about how he got started in Hip Hop and his method of not writing his rhymes, DJ RTC thought it all seemed a little stale.  Keeping in the spirit of education, he compiled what he thought were key questions to make up the perfect formula for a successful interview. Learn how to turn any interview into every interview with Hip Hop Interviews 101 here.

On the flipside, we got more fresh new interviews and updates here…

DJ AM

*Chicago DJ’s Remember DJ AM
I never had the chance to interview, meet, or even see DJ AM live.  That’s not to say I didn’t watch his videos, hear his remixes, and see his name in print on a regular basis.  That said, I didn’t really feel comfortable doing the RH article by myself, so I reached out to some other Chicago DJs to get their thoughts on DJ AM and his contribution to music.  Click here to read as DJs such as Million $ Mano, Willy Joy, and others share their thoughts.

V-Dub

*RH TV: 7 Minutes W/DJ V-Dub
In this interview with WGCI’s DJ V-Dub, the Chicago DJ talks about his start in Chicago’s house scene, DJ skill and style, and radio’s lost art of breaking records. Check it out here

Tanya Morgan

*Tanya Morgan: A Tale of Two Cities
There’s a line in Tanya Morgan’s “Drop” freestyle in which Von Pea spits, “they say we’re golden era, cool, I ain’t into bronze.”  The line works because it’s clever, and it’s also true.  Tanya Morgan’s been pegged as a golden-era Hip Hop trio with more in common with “conscious artists” from the past than many of their current day counterparts.  And when it comes to promotion of their latest album, Brooklynati, Tanya Morgan has few counterparts, if any. Check out the full interview here.

Raekwon

*RH TV: The Raekwon Interview
During his visit to Chicago last week, we spoke with The Chef inside the RH Kitchen.  Raekwon provided us one of our best interviews, as he spoke on the natural progression of OB4CL II, reminding himself that OB4CL could not be topped, clarifies the Joe Budden/Slaughterhouse interview, and doesn’t want to leave dubbing our own DJ RTC “Baby Howard Cosell.” Check out part 12 Minutes W/Raekwon as well as 17 More Minutes w/Raekwon here.
