One of my favorite songs of the year. Titus Andronicus’ second album, The Monitor, is a Civil War inspired masterpiece of rock’n roll. The lead track is a 7 minute epic referencing everything of America. Through it all is a raucous guitar that just rips you apart. The video unfortunately cuts the song down to a more manageable 3:30. Also it misses maybe the most enjoyable moment on a record this year when on the album this opener transitions into the second song and its scream-along chorus. Alas, it’ll do.
