I honestly didn’t think they had videos like this on MTV. I’m glad I’m wrong. Toki Wright shows America’s present through a mirror of the past, telling listeners to ‘know your history’ in this politically charged new music video. The song is a detailed first person narrative of a journey through slavery, two world wars, and up through present day. It’s hard to believe that it was written in less than an hour in front of a white castle. Toki posted on his twitter page: “I wrote “A Different Mirror” in the parking lot at White Castle over South in about 30 min after hearing the beat over the phone.”
