Versatility goes a long way in Hollywood. Tom Hardy’s one of those actors that’s known just as much for his versatility and dedication to transformation as he is for his natural acting ability. From transforming himself for Bronson to Bane in The Dark Knight Rises, Hardy’s made a name for himself for being able to portray larger-than-life characters. His next role, however, will be the largest and most fabulous of characters in his career to date.
Hardy has officially signed on to portray Elton John in a musical biopic of the singer’s life. Entitled Rocketman, the Michael Gracey-directed film will track John’s life from his childhood to his achievement of fame and success. Hardy’s an incredibly talented actor, but I just can’t see him playing Elton John. Nevertheless, the role will serve as a huge challenge for the British actor, one I’m sure he’ll be able to conquer. Shooting for Rocketman is scheduled to begin in Fall 2014.
