When a film is deemed Quentin Tarantino’s “best film of the year,” a lot of pressure, excitement, and anticipation swirls around its official release. The Israeli Big Bad Wolves ran the festival circuit this year, garnering acclaim and recognition along the way. With a US release date set for January 17, distributor Magnolia/Magnet has released a new trailer for the film.

Big Bad Wolves is a bit similar to this year’s Prisoners. Three men’s lives are intertwined when a father searching for revenge over his daughter’s death crosses paths with an officer working outside of the boundaries of the law to find justice as they search for the prime suspect in the case. There are hints of brutality and suspense, two elements Tarantino himself is known for.

Big Bad Wolves was on my list at this year’s Chicago International Film Festival, but unfortunately conflicted with other films and duties. Nevertheless, it’s great to see the film find distribution. Until the film’s released next month, we can just watch the trailer over and over again.
