Jean-Claude Van Damme has been doing his part to make a comeback over recent years. If you haven’t seen the absolutely amazing JCVD, stop what you’re doing right now and watch it. You’re back? Awesome. Van Damme’s return in last year’s The Expendables 2 was kind of Van Damme’s reintroduction (despite his long-running presence in low budget, straight-to-video films). However, his next film, Enemies Closer, seems like it could set him back a bit.

The film stars Tom Everett Scott as a former Navy SEAL who is confronted by a person from his past, Orlando Jones, bent on getting revenge. However, they are forced to work together to survive when a cartel leader, played by Jean-Claude Van Damme, threatens to kill them if they don’t find a missing drug package for him. As the trailer states, Jean-Claude doesn’t give a Van Damme, and it shows with his character’s wacky disposition. It’s gimmicky, cheesy, and a large departure from what Van Damme showed he could do in 2008’s JCVD.

Enemies Closer will be available on VOD and in limited theaters in 2014.
