The Legend of Hercules is yet another film in the line of films inspired by Greek mythology. Directed by Renny Harlin (Deep Blue Sea), the film is an origin story about the half-man, half-god, Hercules, played by Twilight‘s Kellan Lutz. When Hercules is exiled from the kingdom by his stepfather the King (Scott Adkins) over his love for Hebe (Gaia Weiss), he must fight his way back through slavery and gladiator matches to overthrow the King.

It sounds pretty standard for the typical Greek myth film, complete with a color palette that resembles 300 and its follow-up, 300: Rise of an Empire, albeit not as desaturated and gloomy. The fight scenes in the trailer looked alright, but what will probably drive ticket sales will be Twilight fans craving to see Lutz flex his muscles and perform Herculian things.

Whatever the case, The Legend of Hercules will be in theaters on January 10th, 2014.
