While Blue is the Warmest Color has garnered controversy over its lesbian sex scenes, they were but a small (albeit eye-opening and very memorable) scenes as part of a much larger film. Lars von Trier’s next film, Nymphomaniac, however, is about nothing but sex. As we’ve seen in the previously released clips and the intense posters, von Trier’s not pulling any punches with the sexuality in the film.

Finally, the first official trailer for the film has been released, and it’s as sexually-explicit as we’ve come to expect from the film. Included in the trailer are the majority of the ensemble cast (Uma Thurman, Stacy Martin, Jamie Bell, Connie Nielsen, Christian Slater, Willem Dafoe, Mia Goth, Nicolas Bro, Sophie Kennedy Clark, Jens Albinus, and Udo Kier) engaging in risque, sexual situations. The tone of the two-part film is very dark and engaging with a hint of a lyrical vibe driving the film along which is typical of von Trier’s films.

Denmark and Norway will receive Nymphomaniac on Christmas and France will have its release in January. North America, however, has no other release info other than it’s “coming soon.” Coming soon, indeed.
