Tree and Tony Baines released The Lit earlier this summer. It is a short and sweet EP in which Tree’s unique voice and rhymestyle shine over soulful and minimalist production from one of Chicago’s most embedded producers. The EP is honest and revealing containing songs about Tree’s son, as well his successes and failures. The EP’s last song, “Damn Near” is dedicated to Tree’s journey through Hip Hop. Today he released the remix featuring Mikkey Halsted, a fellow Chicago emcee that is more than qualified to speak on the topic at hand. Halsted doesn’t disappoint, turning in a cameo performance worthy of fans’ anticipation for their collaboration.
