Fat Beats

Fat Beats became a staple of Hip Hop during their retail run of 1994-2010.  Every time I went to NYC I hit up their store, and returned with more vinyl than I could squeeze in my bag for the return flight home.  Last year Fat Beats closed their NYC and LA stores to focus on their label and distribution, but they will return to retail in a community capacity this Saturday with the kick off of their monthly FB BK Events.

“FB BK is an event, which we will be holding once a month, during which we will make a section of our BK warehouse available to the public as a retail space,” Fat Beats told the Village Voice. “FB BK will be reminiscent of the atmosphere and energy that the NY and LA stores once exuded. We have DJs of note spinning throughout the day, such as DJ Evil Dee, DJ Spinna, and Rich Medina.”

Below check out a video from In The Mo, in which Fat Beats co-founder Joseph Abjain talks about Fat Beats place in music, the value of vinyl and their warehouse.  Props to NR.
