Let'em Have It

“A while back, I started writing a fairy-tale.”

I really enjoy finding new artists and being put onto new music.  A couple months back I was sent a few records from a young emcee coming up in Chicago by the name of Jon Arrington.  I’m told that a lot of young kids are dope, and I always take the recommendations with a grain of salt. Not long after hitting play, I heard the dopeness in Arrington’s music, a style of Hip Hop grounded in outside influences, thoughtfulness and Chicago’s soulful history.  I had to hold off for a while posting Arrington’s music until he was ready but today I got the green light to drop “Let’em Have It”, the title track and video from his forthcoming EP.  The song is produced by The Blended Babies, who also are the executive producers on the project.  The song is a great introduction to Arrington who raps about his aspirations and balancing where he wants to go with where he is right now.  Arrington also gives a nod to musical influences such as the Beatles, The Jacksons, Ramones, and Rolling Stones in what is a very solid all around effort.  This is definitely another young kid to check for.  I wouldn’t steer you wrong. Video directed by Mani and J.
