K’NAAN is one of those artists that can move between ultra mainstream appeal and gutter street shit. One minute he’s philosophizing on world freedom and expression, the next he’s talking about knifing you in a dark alley, or storming your borders with some pirates, all set to an upbeat rhythm and pop guitars.
