While doing an interview on RapAttack, Lupe Fiasco was asked to share his thoughts on Chicago Hip Hop scene, including Rockie Fresh and Chief Keef.  Admittedly, Lupe doesn’t know too much yet about Rockie, but had a lot to say about Chief Keef and the culture and people that he represents.  “Chief Keef scares me,” Lupe said. “Not him, specifically, but just the culture that he represents, specifically in Chicago,” he continued.  “My nephews and my cousins, and my people, they’re all in the hoods that he represents.”

Lupe further elaborated on his feelings, as well as Chicago’s strong culture of violence, one that produces double-digit homicides every weekend.  “It’s so visceral,” Lupe said. “When I [saw] him, I was like, ‘oh my god. He looks just like Chicago.’  And then, ‘he looks just like my nephew. He could be any kid on the street, and then to hear the things that he raps about…  Comparing it to, you open up the newspaper and there’s 22 shootings this weekend. The next day there’s 3, the next day there’s 4, and you know who’s doing it. It scares me.  It scares me to see that. It scares me.  It’s not fully thought out… just the initial feeling of it scares me.”

I share a similar gut reaction to Chief Keef, as well as Lil’ Mouse, and have shared similar thoughts.  Check out Lupe’s full interview below.
