No I.D.

While there has been no shortage of coverage and opinions concerning Chicago Hip Hop over the last week, and the twitter exchange between Lupe Fiasco and Chief Keef, few are qualified to assess the situation like No I.D. and Malik Yusef.  The two are forefathers of Chicago’s Hip Hop community, and two of the most respected members as well. Speaking to MTV News, No I.D. and Malik Yusef both offered keen insight into the issue as well as it’s context at this moment in Chicago’s climate.

“This is an emotional moment, we have to take it as such and understand it as such,” No I.D. said. “Let’s get in a huddle, let’s figure it out.  We’re smarter than where we’re going with this. We’ve seen this thing before.”  No I.D. really put everything into perspective when he took the issues outside of the range of Hip Hop or simply entertainment, and urged others do to the same.  “It’s really important that we take our minds of out rap world and get into the real world and understand these are human lives,” he said.
