The Suzan: "Paranoid" (Kanye West Cover)

Japan's all-girl band named after a single American woman are doing a lot of covers these days. Biz 3 sent me their take on The Strokes last week, that I didn't get around to posting, but am making up for it today after this take on Kanye West's "Paranoid" hit my inbox. The song was premiered by The Fader, who had nothing but praise for the new interpretation. Check it out below.
Nottz: "Dontcha Wannabe (My Neighbor)" feat Asher Roth and Colin Munroe Video

Nottz dropped his video for "Dontcha Wannabe (My Neighbor)" featuring a nod to Home Improvement and Mr. Rogers, as well as appearances by Asher Roth and Colin Munroe. The song will appear on Nottz's forthcoming, You Need This Music, as well as his collaborative EP with Asher Roth entitled The Rawth EP. I interviewed Asher Roth last week and he talked a lot of about working with Nottz. Among other things, Roth said, "I wish I knew specifically how I got to Virginia and wound up in his studio. But I don't. I just remembed sitting on the couch listening, and he just goes, 'yo, go ahead.' He let me roll through his computer and what he had on there. Shit's like just heat rocks upon heat rocks, and the dude works harder than anybody I know, and he's a fantastic father."
There you have it. Check for the full Asher Roth interview coming soon, and see the video below.
YP: "YNotMyDream" Video

YP hooked up with the up-and-coming director, Davy Greenberg, for his latest video. The video's simple, but it works. Check it out below.

Chris Faust: "Just Some Scattered Thoughts"

Chris Faust lets us into his head for 4 minutes as he gives his stream of consciousness on the appropriately named track. No underlying theme, just Chris and some relaxed instrumentals that flow just as well as Chris Faust's delivery. Download this track after the jump.
Jessica Alba for GQ UK

Jessica Alba is on the cover of the November issue of GQ UK and her photo spread is incredible. Gavin Bond, who shot Alba the last time she covered GQ UK, did a great job in showing Alba at her best. The job must be somewhat easy when you have such a great subject, but Bond's choice of lighting, location, and angles were great. Alba is coming off the success of Robert Rodriguez's Machete (if you haven't seen it you are definitely losing right now) looks like she is at a top point in her career. Check out the behind the scenes video HERE and the rest of the shoot below.
New Beastie Boys LP Coming Spring 2011

The Beastie Boys had a new LP all set and ready to drop in September of 2009 when MCA revealed that he had cancer. All tour dates were scrapped and the album was put on hold to ensure that MCA could receive the proper treatment and beat the disease. The Beasties have been very quiet since about the shelved Hot Sauce Committee Part 1, as well as MCA's health. The silence is breaking, as The Beastie Boys announced via their website that while the completed album still won't see the light of day, they will be releasing Hot Sauce Committee Part 2 in the spring of 2011. For redundancy's sake, they said:
"ALTHOUGH WE REGRET TO INFORM YOU THAT "HOT SAUCE COMMITTEE PART 1" WILL CONTINUE TO BE DELAYED INDEFINITELY, "HOT SAUCE COMMITTEE PART 2" WILL BE RELEASED ON TIME AS ORIGINALLY PLANNED IN SPRING OF 2011."
That's great news, and I'm definitely looking forward to it.
