O Type Star, otherwise known as Jeff Baraka, is a walking history of Chicago’s Hip Hop movement. He’s been a part of the culture going back to the Dem Dare days with Twilite Tone, and to this day, is a participant and champion of the culture. Last month, O Type released Driving Songs Volume One: An Alternate Route, a soulful LP that includes tracks from O’s long running career. Guest appearances include Binary Star, Common, JUICE, No ID, and others. Baraka truly shines on the LP that sticks well to its title. Driving Songs Volume One makes a great companion down Lake Shore Drive, or when you’re stationary and want to zone out.
