Word on the street is Karl Lagerfeld has yet to renew his contract with legendary fashion house, Chanel.  Lagerfeld has made a household name for himself along with keeping the Chanel legacy alive with his chic, smart, and sophisticated designs. This rumor has yet to be confirmed, however, if the 75-year old designer does step down, Lanvin’s mastermind, Alber Elbaz is suspected to take his place.  The house of Lanvin was revitalized when Elbaz took the reins.

Consequently, if Elbaz switches houses, former Nina Ricci creative director, Olivier Theyskens, will become the new Lanvin head honcho.  Though these are all just rumors, one creative director is confirmed to be leaving his throne.

Women’s Wear Daily reports that Esteban Cortazar will be parting with French fashion house Emmanuel Ungaro.  He has only shown three collections for the line.  Cortazar, who found design fame at a young age, showed his first collection in New York at the age of 18.  He is brilliant without a doubt, but his views on Ungaro’s marketing and advertising strategy clashed with the management and the CEO of the company.  Ungaro plans to relaunch their ad campaigns with a celebrity model (Lindsay Lohan is rumored to get this spot) to get the house’s name back out into the world.  I cannot help but wonder how the switching of seats and power is going to change the face of the industry in the upcoming years.  All of the previously mentioned houses are some of the frontrunners in fashion, so expect some changes in due time…
