Last night Kanye West hosted a benefit for Chicago Public Schools in association with The Kanye West Foundation and S.H.O.W. All the proceeds go to the funding of Loop Dreams, a program that aims to keep kids engaged in school by supplying them with access to recording equipment, software, and instruments. Kanye made the day for several CPS students with perfect attendance, who were treated to a special screening of the soundcheck earlier in the day. I went to the show almost strictly was a fan, and told myself repeatedly that I was not going to do any “blackberry cinematography”, but it was like my blackberry video would not stop calling me. I saw so many people taking pics and video, that I just couldn’t fight the itch. I did keep it very short, and only took a short clip of “Homecoming” (first verse), as well as Kanye’s speech during “Put On” in which he speaks about his love for Chicago, and more importantly Chicago Public School Students. He explains Loop Dreams, and how he feels adding Protools to schools will help kids in and out of the classroom. Check them out below…
