When the Alamo Drafthouse isn’t banning Madonna from their theaters, they operate as a film distribution company under the Drafthouse Films name. The company’s modus operandi is to find amazing, sometimes niche films that wouldn’t otherwise find distribution in order to give them the spotlight they deserve. Since 2010, Drafthouse Films has released 15 films (including the amazing Bullhead that was nominated for the Foreign Language Oscar in 2012). Earlier today, it was announced that five of their films are now available on Netflix Instant.

WrongA Band Called DeathPietaGraceland, and Wake in Fright are the new films available for your viewing consumption. My two personal recommendations are Wrong and A Band Called DeathWrong is French director Quentin Dupieux’ follow-up to 2010’s Rubber, a film about a killer tire that examined the metafictional relationship between film and film audiences. Wrong is another absurdist film about a man searching for his missing dog. A Band Called Death is a documentary about the first African-American punk rock band, Death, predating Bad Brains by a decade.
