WWD is reporting that Ms. Wintour views Fashion’s Night Out as a battle to save the fashion industry. She reportedly has all for Vogue offices in New York organized as battalions to ensure Fashion’s Night Out is a success. Wintour and the Council of Fashion Designers of America (CFDA) whose president happens to be Diane von Furstenburg organized the event to help drive traffic into stores during the start of the season rather than Mid-Season when everything is on sale. The point of Fashion’s Night Out is to look to what is presently available at stores for regular price as opposed to waiting for sales or focusing attention too far into the future on Spring 2010. Fashions Night Out is scheduled to have celebrity appearances, late night museam exhibits, musical performances and more. Lets hope that the fashion community’s efforts pay off.
