The homie Arjaye Jeter is not afraid to be controversial when he feels his heart is in the right place and in his latest single, “N***** In Nikes”, discusses how Nike sells itself heavily to African American culture to exploit the culture’s love for material things. He states:
“Many have been victims of violence across America waiting in line for Nike Brand Gym shoes mainly the Jordan brand and Nike nor Micheal Jordan himself have spoken on the violence showing a clear neglect to their African American consumers.”
I applaud the local up-and-comer for taking a stance for something he believes in and hopefully this will start a conversation on consumerism in America.
Arjaye will have a listening party this Friday for his next album at Jugrnaut (427 S. Dearborn St), peep the flyer after the jump.
