Kid Marquis: "Young Kid, Old Soul"

YKOS16

Kid Marquis is a 15 year-old aspiring emcee and producer, currently under the guidance of DJ Moondawg.  After working with the Marquis and going through several demos, Moondawg felt it was time to share some music from the young Chicagoan. Moon sent me "Young Kid, Old Soul" earlier today as an introduction to Kid Marquis, which is a solid offering from a DIY kid on the come up.  I'm interested to hear more.  Peep the record below.

[Video] Quelle Chris: "RatShit"

Quelle-Chris-2

Quelle Chris takes it to the disco in the pimptastic video for "RatShit" feat DJ GroWeyez.  The record is fueled by the bass line, which provides the basis for Quelle's quick barbs and signifiers of ratchetness.  This record was released with Mello Music Group as a limited 45.  Watch it below.

[RH Premiere] ShowYouSuck: "Rap Game Karate" (prod by Zak Jablow)

RapGameKarate Art2

"Rap Game Karate" is the first single from AEMMP Hip Hop's forthcoming compilation, The Prerequisite. The album features a great collection of Chicago Hip Hop artists, all compiled by the student run record label of Columbia College. The new record features ShowYouSuck, with production from Zak Jablow and it is quite the banger.  The Prerequisite will be released on March 5th, and is the follow-up to last year's Class President, which introduced many to the production Thelonious Martin.  Listen and download the song below, and stay tuned for more from AEMMP Hip Hop.

[Video] ShowYouSuck Live @ Red Bull Sound Select Chicago

ShowYouSuck

ShowYouSuck was a featured performer at last week's Red Bull Sound Select Chicago event.  The concert took place at Bottom Lounge, co-presented by FSD and also featured performances by Tree, Sasha Go Hard, and Freddie Gibbs, with all the Chicago-based artists competing to win a slot at SXSW.  I was recovering from a dentist trip and couldn't feel my face that night, but heard the event was dope and that ShowYouSuck killed it.  Here's some proof, shot and chopped by NME Films.

Mac Miller: "Confessions of A Cash Register" feat Prodigy

macmiller

"I'll put your face in your cornflakes."

Mac Miller gives us a new record as we await the release of his sophomore LP, Watching Movies With The Sound Off. The new record is lowkey and grimey thanks to an appearance from Prodigy, and co-production from The Alchemist, who worked on the record with Mac.  This is solid. Peep it below.
