[Video] Kids Use Hip-Hop As A Way To Understand Science

Dr. Christopher Edmin a professor of education at Columbia University's Teacher College has gone a different route in hopes of influencing public school children to learn about science through hip-hop. What Edmin ended up creating was a program called, "Science Genius which is part of a national push to try and influence minorities into taking interest in science." This program eventually in true hip-hop fashion birthed a competition where the kids battled it out on the mic with lyrics centering around the topic of science. Titled B.A.T.T.L.E.S. (Bring Attention to Transforming Teaching, Learning and Engagement in Science) the students performed to a panel of judges that included the Wu Tang Clan’s GZA. Looking back it just seems right to have a member of Wu Tang on the panel because there had to be at least one reference to science in every Wu track. It's refreshing to see alternative ways to teaching the youth of this country and if hip-hop can help do that I don't see why more educators wouldn't want to explore it as an option. Check out the video below and see what the kids learned and who took home the trophy.

It seems like everybody is on their phone scrolling through photos deciding which ones to post on Instagram. It’s so easy to do, whether you’re a photographer or not; just point, shoot, choose a filter, then post whatever you created. From the funny duck face selfies to breathtaking landscapes to gritty city streets, some use it as visual journal giving glimpses of their lives. Others have taken it to another level creating works of art. All of us at Ruby Hornet are fans of the social media platform and decided to do a weekly series of highlighting people whose Instagrams we feel are cool. Let us know in the comments section if you’d like to be featured, or let us know about some other cool Instagrams. Be sure to follow the Ruby Hornet Instagram, too.

This week’s featured Instagram comes from @sonyayu. If you like food and I mean who doesn't, right? Then you should check out professional food photographer Sonyayu. Her feed consists of a lot of delicious food, photos from her travels, and a french bulldog with a million costumes. Be warned though when looking at her  photos you are definitely bound to get hungry.

Miranda Kerr For Vogue UK

The Aussie supermodel Miranda Kerr's newest photo spread is for the September issue of Vogue UK shot by Alasdair McLellan. Unfortunately for us, before we know it, summer will be gone, and to help with the transition, Vogue enlisted the pair to give us a very hot pictorial. Miranda is styled in a variety of coats for the upcoming season, barely wearing anything (if anything at all) underneath. The portraits really capture Kerr's sex appeal, and with the use of natural light, it's easy to forget that the reason for the photo shoot was to show off the coats. Check out some of the photos below from the spread.

Nina Agdal For Euroman Magazine

You've might have seen Nina Agdal gracing the pages of Sports Illustrated last year or saw her walk the runway for Victoria's Secret. Now, the Danish beauty is back in a new photo spread for Euroman Magazine, shot by photographer Bjarke Johansen. This time around, Nina ditched the swimsuit and lingerie for a more hipster vibe wearing only Chucks and jean shorts in most of the shots. The back drop is pretty cool, as well, with marble benches and statues... not that any of you really care about that. Check out the rest of the photos below from Nina's shoot.

Is this the iPhone 5S's Camera?

Apparently, the image you see could possibly be the new camera for the iPhone 5S according to Luna Commerce.  There really is no other information given to us, so we can only make assumptions about the camera's megapixels or the aperture on the lens. As Phoblographer states, "The photos show that it is a one inch by one inch unit for the most part with the rest of the electronics taking up basically as much space as the camera itself." This only has us asking more questions about the upcoming iPhone features, and hopefully we can expect an upgrade from the current iPhone 5 camera. You can click below for other views of the camera.

[Video] Agent Provacteur Ad Starring Irina Shayk

Last week, we shared Irina Shayk's latest photo spread for GQ Russia, and it looks like the model is keeping herself busy. Irina stars in the lingerie brand Agent Provocatuer's newest campaign for their new Fall/Winter 2013 L'Agent collection. Not only did Penelope Cruz direct the video, but with the help of her sister, she also designed the pieces for the line. The setting for the video takes place at a house party where all the women are dressed in lingerie, but I won't say anymore; check out the video below.

Street Artist Makes Abandoned Psych Hospital Creepier

Just when you thought abandoned asylums couldn't get any creepier, one street artist took it upon himself to make them even creepier. I probably would never step foot inside any of these hospitals, let alone go ahead and paint the walls, but that's what Brazilian street artist Herbert Baglione did for his "1,000 Shadows" project. He visited many abandoned psych wards throughout Europe and painted ghostly figures that would be lurking in the shadows. The images are creepy, and the setting is definitely creepier, but I guess you can expect that from an artist that"likes to paint with his own blood." Check out the photos below, and for more of his work, visit the Huffington Post here.
