[Mixtape] Lil Wayne: "Dedication 5"

dedication-5

For the better part of a decade, Weezy's Dedication mixtape series has served as a platform from which to premier the latest Lil Wayne to the masses and is often credited with shaping the mixtape culture of today. On his latest offering, Wayne does it again in true Weezy fashion. The release date of the tape was pushed back as Wayne waited on a last minute track from Chance The Rapper produced by Peter CottonTale, Cam Osteen of J.U.S.T.I.C.E League and Nate Fox, "You Song". A late night call last Wednesday sent the production trio, along with Chance, to Classick Studios in Chicago where they shaped the song in an all-night session before sending it off later that week. Chance is truly blowing up, along with some superbly talented producers out of the Midwest. Check out the mixtape below and keep it locked on RubyHornet for exclusive content on "You".

Mathien: "Shine"

The latest offering from Chicago's own Mathien. According to frontman Chris Mathien, "Shine" was "written after a life-altering experience. I made a lifestyle change and as a result it reignited a passion and inspiration that has long been missing from my life." To be sure, it features Mathien's experienced guitar work and vocals. Check out the track below complete with download.

Yeezus Remix Album Featuring Miley?

Yes, apparently it's a real thing. As much as it pains me to post the words "Miley" and "Cyrus" and add to the cacophony of airy, garbage-filled commentary on her recent VMA performance, the New York Post reported today that Kanye and Cyrus very well may be working together on a Yeezus remix album, quote below.

"After tormenting the Twitterverse with her twerking routine at the VMAs, Miley Cyrus went right into the studio with Kanye West to record a remix of his song Black Skinhead, Page Six has exclusively learned. Cyrus skipped her own VMA after-party at No. 8 and went into the studio for what her reps described as a late-night, top- secret collaboration, which sources said was with none other than West. The Yeezus rapper was one of the few artists not spotted out at Jay Z and Diddy's bash in New York, which went into the early hours of Monday. West was also said to have headed straight to the studio after the MTV event at Brooklyn's Barclays Center. We hear Cyrus will appear with West on a remix of Black Skinhead, due to be part of a remix EP that will be released later this year. West was due to perform Skinhead at the VMAs, but reportedly changed his mind at the last minute to perform the haunting track Blood on the Leaves, at which time viewers only saw his enlarged shadow rapping against a backdrop of a forest." --New York Post

Gulp.

Placebo: "Too Many Friends" (The Bloody Beetroots Remix)

The Bloody Beetroots has made a name for himself in the EDM world through his blending of punk rock aesthetics and high-end instrumentality with a penchant for "bringing music back to dance music." On this track he remixes Placebo's "Too Many Friends" to a pop sensibility that is a bit of a departure for Sir Bob, check the track out here below.

[Mixtape] Arjaye Jeter: "All In One Day"

Arjaye Jeter certainly does on this latest release which he wrote and recorded "All in One Day" exclusively to Dilla beats. He rides the classic chords well and mixes well with the legendary producer who was responsible for some of the most memorable records in hip-hop. The album stream is here below, check it out.
