NYC Fashion Week: Betsey Johnson

Betsey

Betsey Johnson is an icon and her designs lie next to the word "funk" in the dictionary. Her wild and crazy image translates to all of her pieces, which are all perfect if you're going for the "party girl in the city" look. Johnson kept up with her tradition of wild colors and prints in her designs this season, however, her pieces were more tailored and refined than they have been in previous years. Check out some pics from her runway and party, which was held at the Palm Court at the Plaza where Betsey is designing a room.

NYC Fashion Week 2010: G-Star

G-Star

Mega Denim brand G-Star did a good job of showing how well denim translates to more than just jeans. One piece outfits for the ladies, White tuxedo jackets for men, harem pants, vests, dresses, and men and women's blazers were all made from Raw Denim. G-Star put together a great show and made great use of the white and blue color palette they used for most of their pieces.  Casual and Chic became one during this show.

NYC Fashion Week Spring 2010: Tracey Reese

Tracey Reese

Tracey Reese is one of the only African American's to show in the Fashion Week Tents this Spring. It's no secret that the fashion community is not as ethnically diverse as it could and should be. All negativity aside however, Tracey Reese has a Killer ready to wear collection. She aimed at creating a lot of separates for her customers to mix and match because she felt that during these economic times it would be unfair to design an expensive dress for a woman to wear once or twice. Everything in Tracey Reese's collection is colorful, relatively casual, and although not completely avante garde, certainly original.

NYC Fashion Week Spring 2010: Marc Jacobs

Marc Jacobs

This year's Spring Marc Jacobs collection takes it's inspiration from theatre, the ballet, the opera, and his favorite Japanese designers. The latter is evidenced by all the models coming down the runway in kabuki makeup. Jacobs was determined this season to go against the current trend of women wearing all black and studs. His theme for this season was being an individual, and anyone who knows Marc Jacobs knows he certainly is an individual. His collection was filled with short shorts and intricately designed blazers, ruffles everywhere, long peasant dresses, underwear as outerwear, sequins, and nude leggings.
