Hola Bobbito

Bobbitto

Bobbito Garcia aka DJ Cucumber Slice, aka Cool Bob Love, aka Boogie Bob aka the man with too many names and too many jobs will come to Chicago today for a show at The Shrine.  For those that don't know, Bobbito was the co-host of one of Hip Hop's seminal radio programs with DJ Stretch Armstrong, is a alumni of the Rock Steady crew, former pro-hooper in Puerto Rico, an author, publisher, actor, and the list goes on.  I'm super excited because Bobbito is going to hit the RH offices later today to chop it up.  Check out this video bio below to get caught up to speed.

RH At The Movies: Black Dynamite

Black dynamite

"But Black Dynamite...I sell drugs in the community," whimpers Black Giddyup, a pimp down on his luck and his, uh, "workers".   Superhero, rogue cop, Kung Fu master, and a real wizard of poetry, Black Dynamite (Michael Jai White) has no sympathy.  He's on a mission after his brother's murder, a crippling rise of drugs in the local orphanage, and an uncovered plot to release a dick-shrinking malt liquor that can be traced all the way back to the White House, yes indeed, definitely some jive turkeys.  "Black Dynamite" is a satire of Blaxploitation films and stars a hilarious cast made up of people you'll remember from other things including Tommy Davidson as Creamed Corn, Arsenio Hall as Tasty Freeze, and Cedric Yarbrough as the aforementioned Black Giddyup.

This is indeed a rocket launcher right here.  Fever Ray's gotten fairly consistent RH love, and this remix is f**king awesome.  Perfect for an extended break and full of Rick Rubin era Def Jam cuts, throw this one on and score points fast.  When the vocals kick in people will thing you're playing Bjork, and since you're not, you'll be able to grin and shake your head at them...You know what I'm talking about.  Download it now, you won't be disappointed.

Phil G Live From Soldier Field

Phil G.

Phil G. performed at Soldier Field this weekend, and sent us the video tape along with a special message from Leon Rogers...For real man, listen to Leon Rogers and stop downloading!  I'm tired of all this free music bulls**t...I mean, really, you'd think artists were sending their songs out and asking people with trafficked websites to post their music along with a link to a file-sharing website so that people that visited said website could download it free, listen to it, start liking it, and want to hear more from said artist...craziness...

Miles Benjamin Anthony Robinson: "The Sound"

Miles Benjamin Anthony Robinson

This song debuted last week on more indie leaning sites such as Spinner, Stereogum and Pitchfork, finally making its way to this site, which is more Hip Hop centered with instances of going beyond into the, 'that's cool and has no thumping bass.'  Indulging in our inner angst and insecurities, we've been playing this new joint from Miles Benjamin Anthony Robinson, who is prepping for his new LP The Summer of Fear, which was recorded in the summer of 2007.  While I don't remember that summer to be too scary, Robinson tells a different story, starting with the first leak "The Sound".  He told Spinner that the song maybe best enjoyed "in a well air-conditioned car...It is mostly about missed opportunities, lowered expectations and the discomfort caused by both dreams and nostalgia in a constantly changing world."

Yes!  Listen to and download "The Sound" below.
