Beastie Boys

I was going through old CD’s yesterday to import to Serato, and came across this ’93-’94 version of the Beastie Boys’ “Intergalactic”. The song, in a completely different form, became one of the Beastie Boys’ biggest hits, and carried Hello Nasty to be one of the top albums of 1998.  The only thing that ties the two together is the space-theme, and the calling card, “Intergalactic-Planetary, Planetary-Intergalactic” chant.  The Beastie Boys’ sound switched up quite a bit between 1992’s Check Your Head and 1998’s Hello Nasty. Keeping to the style of times, this version of “Intergalactic” contains references to Jimmy Smith and Shawn Kemp, vocal drops, and the Beastie’s injection of jam band elements into NYC Hip Hop songs.  I have several leftovers from this period that have become some of my favorite Beastie cuts.  This one was supposedly intended for inclusion on Don’t Mosh In The Ramen Shop, an axed Enhanced Disc CD-Rom (remember those?).

Check it out below.
