“Times are hard and my God, help to not snatch this purse.”
Benjamin Earl Turner comes to the windy city via Oakland, CA. The burgeoning emcee moved to Chicago to work with some of my favorite Chicago artists such as PIVOT, The Village, and SaveMoney. He introduces himself to rubyhornet today via the passionate “Normal Sins”, which takes a 9th Wonder instrumental and makes it into a wonderful track about Ben’s struggle to find his voice and place in the world. On first listen, this reminded a little bit of Kendrick Lamar’s early work, especially the passion in the flow. Peep the record below, and look for Ben’s forthcoming mixtape, The Curse of The Real.
