The Simpsons

[Video] The Simpsons Reimagined in Other Cartoon Styles

The Simpsons' annual "Treehouse of Horror" special allows the creators to have fun with everybody's favorite yellow-skinned cartoon family. This year, the big tease was having the current Simpsons family meeting their past incarnations as they were originally drawn on The Tracy Ullman Show. However, the big surprise was the introduction of The Simpsons' incarnations in different cartoon styles. As a big fan of comics, I'm used to the idea of the Multiverse in which various incarnations of characters exist, and seeing The Simpsons play with this concept was a fun one.

Watch the clip below and see if you can guess all of the shows/films The Simpsons references!

HBO

HBO is Cutting the Cord, Offering Cable-Free Subscriptions in 2015

“That is a large and growing opportunity that should no longer be left untapped. It is time to remove all barriers to those who want HBO." - HBO Chairman and CEO Richard Plepler.

For somebody who hates downloading stuff illegally, I've missed out on a lot of amazing TV shows because of my lack of HBO. Sure, I could borrow HBO Go logins from friends (and have honestly attempted to), but I never went through with them. I've gotten caught up in the Game of Thrones hype, yet I've never actually seen an episode, I, too, want to see dragons and nudity and sword thrones! But alas, without a cable subscription (or even a normal TV subscription due to my recent move this summer) or money to throw down on the Game of Thrones DVD/Blu-ray sets, I was resigned to waiting until the series hit Netflix Instant.

However, in a move that has been rumored for a couple of weeks, HBO has finally come to their senses and announced their intentions to offer HBO to users who don't have an HBO cable subscription. By their count, there are 80 million homes in the United States that don't subscribe to HBO, and it's this demographic that the company is hoping to attract with their announcement. No concrete details, such as pricing, limitations, etc. were revealed.

What should be noted is how this announcement will affect pre-existing relationships with service providers like Comcast and DirecTV. Surely, they won't be too thrilled that HBO is taking their service into their own hands. However, I'm sure there are provisions in place that will continue to offer cable subscribers incentives (exclusive shows, cheaper rates?) that non-cable subscribers won't have. Of course, this is all just speculation, but we'll hear more information as the weeks follow.

(L to R) Pigeon, Yung Hee, Mike and the Marquess of Queensberry are off to solve another mystery. Mike Tyson Mysteries premieres on Adult Swim on October 27 at 10:30 p.m. (ET/PT).

Mike Tyson has been rebuilding his public image over the past few years following his retirement from boxing with memorable cameos in films like The Hangover, his one-man show Mike Tyson: Undisputed Truth, and his New York Times Best Seller, Undisputed Truth. What's the next step for one of boxing's most dominant athletes? An Adult Swim cartoon!

During New York Comic Con 2014, the extended trailer for Mike Tyson Mysteries was revealed. The cartoon is a Scooby Doo-esque mystery starring Tyson as himself and the Mike Tyson Mystery Team made up of his adopted Korean daughter Yung Hee (Rachel Ramras), the Ghost of the Marquess of Queensberry (Jim Rash), and a pigeon named Pigeon (Norm Macdonald). If the animation style seems familiar, it's because Warner Bros. Animation themselves is handling it, which is a great show of faith for the show.

Mike Tyson Mysteries will premiere on Adult Swim on October 27th at 10:30pm EST/9:30pm CST. Check out a small gallery of images from the show below!

Astonishing X-Men

Fox Might Be Developing X-Men TV Show

While the box office is where the real money is, many studios are embracing the TV format for various comic book properties. The Batman-related Gotham's series premiere a few weeks ago brought in 8.21m viewers, Netflix and Marvel recently revealed the logo for Daredevil (the first of four TV shows to exclusively premiere on the service), Brian Michael Bendis' Powers will be released exclusively on the PlayStation Network this December, Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. has had its ups and downs, but further expands upon the lore of its Cinematic Universe, and we all know how successful The Walking Dead has been since it premiered four years ago. These shows help represent cheaper, faster returns for the studios as opposed to producing one film every x amount of years. That's not to say that each series' quality is any less than what we catch in theaters, of course. Nevertheless, TV is becoming the perfect landscape for serial storytelling, and with the growth and success of comic book properties in the past 10 years, it makes sense for more adaptations hitting the small screen.

That brings us to the new rumor that 20th Century Fox is preparing to develop a live-action X-Men show. Recently, it was confirmed that the next X-Men film, X-Men: Apocalypse, will mark the final entry in the trilogy that began with X-Men: First Class and was continued by this summer's Days of Future Past. The film is currently slated for a May 2016 release, which gives Fox two years to develop the rumored X-Men TV show to further continue the mythology and universe established in the X-Men films.

What do you think? I, for one, would love to see a live-action X-Men TV show, so long as it was handled correctly.

The Clipse performed on Jimmy Fallon last night.  And being the clever duo that they are, they hit the audience with something classic and something new.  Pusha T and Malice performed "Popular Demand" and "Grindin'" with The Roots, who serve as the House Band for Fallon, for those unfamiliar.  See the videos below.

Nefew: "What U Talk About" Video

Nefew

"I don't care about the money, I seek emcees."

I have a soft spot for those "bring it back to the essence" type of songs, and Swiss-American act, Nefew brings forth such a vibe on their re-released "What U Talk About".  After handling things in Europre, the duo is setting their sites on the U.S., and this is a solid introduction.  Check out the video below.
