Phil G x Really Doe: "So Nutts" Live From DJ RTC & Friends

Phil G and Really Doe

Here's the first piece of video from Saturday's DJ RTC & Friends at Do Division Fest.  If you were there, then you already know, if you were not, then let me set the table for you.  I was given a slot at Do Division Fest, I called up a wishlist of artists that I wanted to rock with me in a live 'mixtape' sort of fashion.  I ordered the songs, blended them together, threw on other instrumentals etc...My wishlist turned into reality as everyone I asked to join me, came through.  Two such people I definitely needed on the bill were Really Doe and Phil G who blessed us with solo sets, as well as this cut of "So Nutts".  Check out the live video below, and listen close as Really Doe's verse turns into "Warning".  Look for more later on RH and elsewhere.

Sa-Ra Creative Partners: "Bitch Baby"

Sa Ra

Sa-Ra Creative Partners is a great name, in my opinion.  It kinda reminds me of the Children's Animal Detective Agency or some ish (great movie by the way)...Anyway, more than just a creative name, the Creative Partners have a solid sound and showcase the funk on this new song from their June 23rd release, Nuclear Revolution: The Age of Love.  Grab "B**ch Baby" below.

GLC: "Spaceship" Video Snippet

In 2004, Kanye West released The College Dropout, an album that changed music forever.  While "Through The Wire", "Jesus Walks", and "All Falls Down" all got heavy video and radio play, my (and many others) considered "Spaceship" their favorite joint on the record.  Kanye and GLC shot a video for the song, which never saw the light of day because Mr. West was never happy with the final product.  I saw the video about a year and a half ago and throughly enjoyed it.  I've asked GLC many times since then if he was going to put it out, and he always maintained that it may see some shine if the right time arose.  Well, balancing Kanye's feelings of the full video not being up to his standards, and GL's own ambitions and popular demand for the video, GL has posted his verse only on this site, GLCityMusic.com.  And you can see it below.  Enjoy!

Blackstar: "Respiration" Live 5.30

Black Star

Is there a better album than Blackstar's one and only LP?  Better is very subjective, so probably there is, but I don't really deal in probablities...Anyway, Mos Def and Talib Kweli united at the Nokia Theater last night for a sold out show.  UGHH was in the house and captured some video, which is posted below in the form of "Respiration" (Mos Def's verse).  I spotted this one at 2dopeboyz, where you can also download Meka's very vintage mixtape.

T.I.: "On Top of The World" featuring Kanye West and B.o.B.

TI

"Remember saying, damn if I could just get a million plus, now I'm like what the f**k is a million bucks?.."

T.I.'s "On Top of The World" gets a boost from Kanye's "Kinda Like A Big Deal" verse, and will also be on the re-up of Paper Trail. This track is on the new Grand Hustle mixtape, which you can find and read more about at Nahright, where I grab this track from.

Naledge: "U Oughta Know"

Naledge

There really is no story to the song... I mean it's old...It's definitely from the Rawkus days.  We just knew we couldn't clear the sample, so it never was really considered a real option...At the time it was recorded, the sample thing and speeding up vocals to sound like chipmunks was pretty innovative....lol...This cat BIRD! who was an intern at Sony gave the beat to John Monopoly while we were in a meeting in NYC...He in turn gave it to me....I always liked the song so I figured why not let people hear it...This was going to be on Chicago Picasso, but the same problem came up with regards to the sample.  This was also one of RTC's favorites from the Picasso project.
