French singer and actress Charlotte Gainsbourg, daughter of the infamous duo Jane Birkin and Serge Gainsbourg, has been chosen to be the face of Balenciaga’s new fragrance from Nicolas Ghesquiere to nobody’s surprise. To celebrate, a party took place at Los Angeles’s Chateau Marmont with a very particular and intimate crowd. The new scent is a bit heavier than most to get back to the roots of traditionally heavier French perfume. The two were in L.A. for the shooting of the campaign, which will be launched at the end of the year. Ms. Gainsbourg had little input in what the fragrance smells like, but she was constantly giving feedback during the creative process. Ghesquiere’s clothing for Balenciaga is so delicious that I can’t wait for the launch of the scent.
