DJ AM

The New York Medical Examiner has declared that DJ AM died as a result of a drug overdose.  Rolling Stone reports that the drugs cocaine, oxycodone, Vicodin, Ativan, Klonopin, Xanax, Benadryl and Levamisole were found in AM’s system, and lead to his death.  The DJ was found in his apartment on August 28th, after he missed a scheduled flight to Las Vegas.  DJ AM struggled with drug addiction, bottomed out, and turned his life around.  He maintained sobriety for more than 10 years, and recently flimed a reality with MTV in which he explored drug addiction, and helped others kick their habits.  It’s believed that the combination of the show, as well as the effects of his plane crash caused AM to return to drugs.  That is just speculation, as no one will ever truly know what went down before DJ AM’s untimely passing.  He is remembered by a world community of music fans and peers, including Chicago DJs who spoke with us about AM’s life (click here).
