Double 0 of Kidz In The Hall dropped his debut solo EP today, pretty much without warning. A little heads up would’ve been nice, sheesh! Just kidding… It’s great to see our friend drop some new music and spread his creative wings. Double 0 recently sent me a folder of tracks for Closed Sessions, and said folder contained some stunning tracks. I’m looking forward to digging into Spirit Animal. While taking a break from recording the new Kidz in the Hall album due out later this year, Double-0 has stayed busy working on new, more experimental material entitled “Spirit Animal,” being released today.
Pulling from Double-0’s vast palette of influences from Rza to Tricky to a recent trip to Paris, “Spirit Animal” is full of hard-thumping beats, guitar-god riffs and cinematic cresendos. The project is divided into 2 sides entitled, “This Side” & “That Side.” “This Side” features the producer’s instrumental work with some help from Game Rebellion guitarist, Yohimbe. “That Side” sticks to a more song structured format with features from Naledge (Kidz In The Hall), The Kid Daytona, Netic (Game Rebellion), and Patty Crash & Melo-X.
The first single, “On Me” features the loose collective known as Jesus Wore Magnums (Naledge, Netic, and The Kid Daytona).
