Last week on Closed Sessions radio with JR Bang (Listen Here), we talked about new records from Fat Joe and LL Cool J, both of whom went below their age bracket to appeal to the radio trends and lingo of 2012. For his part, Fat Joe dropped “Instagram That Hoe”, while LL released a record called “Ratchet”. On the show, JR and I both felt like the records didn’t quite fit in with each rapper’s legacy, or true style. Don’t get me wrong, Fat Joe’s been making hits of the time for his whole career, but instagram that ho? really? Especially at a time when Joe was sort of back to his DITC days. His last album was pretty raw, and he’d been going back towards his South Bronx spitting mentality. LL, well, I don’t expect much different from him, but again, ratchet? Why? Peep Elliot’s thoughts below, where he also speaks on Eve’s new cut “She Bad Bad”, just writing that title makes me feel dumber.
