Eminem

A couple vaulted joints from Eminem surfaced last night.  While there’s no verified date or backstory to the songs, a listen to each will reveal somethings about the time period of their creation.  “Emulate” is slow moving, and centers on social awkwardness and introversion.  It features Obie Trice, and sonically matches much of what made up Obie’s sophomore LP, Second Round’s On Me, which was released in 2006.  This song carries the similar production to the album as well, and I wouldn’t be surprised if this song was slated for that album or recorded somewhere in the midst of those sessions.

The “I Get Money” freestyle was probably recorded around the time of that release, or somewhere shortly after before Eminem went to work on Relapse.  Em has said before that he contemplated taking some shots at Kanye West and Lil’ Wayne, and this freestyle contains hints of the frustration he had with being overshadowed by West, Wayne, Jay-Z and others that climbed to the peak of Hip Hop’s mountain while Eminem was on a break fro recording. Listen to both songs below.
