Evidence

“Nobody kept me here, the city is a preference.”

Evidence has made no secret of the abrupt death of his mom, which occurred in 2004, shortly after the release of Dilated Peoples’ third studio album, Neighborhood Watch.  He has channeled the pain, as well as the happiness he felt while she was alive, into music putting everything into song.  It’s easy to see that Mother’s Day may be a tough day for Evidence (and others who have lost their mom).  He decided to do a “Mother’s Day 2011” Freestyle, which he released via his Twitter page.  Over a thumping beat, with a marching pace, Evidence slings metaphors, codes, and historical references in a song that is ultimately about weathering any storm.  Although it is up a day late, it’s more than worth checking out for any fan of Ev or Dilated Peoples.  Grab it below.
