Francois Nars

I had the privilege over the weekend to meet one of the most legendary make-up artists in the biz, Francois Nars.  He was having an in-store meet and greet at the new Barney’s on Oak and Rush St.  Francois Nars is just as essential to the fashion industry as any other designer or model.  Already an established photographer, he launched the NARS brand in 1994 when he released a limited edition set of 12 lipsticks at Barney’s, and now the company has grown exponentially offering a full line of cosmetics.  Always known for the crazy campaigns, colors and textures, NARS wants his make-up to make his clients shine, not for it to cover them.  To this day, he still photographs all of the campaigns and is the main creative director.  He left his hiatus after he created the looks for the Marc Jacobs Fall/Winter 2009 runway show, which was inspired by club nights.  I am a loyal NARS supporter, and the color selection is absolutely fab!  Barney’s gave the real fashionistas of Chicago a treat today by having him in-store!
