We’ve been doing this little thing called RubyHornet for a while now, since February of 2008. In that time, we’ve had some great memories, and (we think) built a wealth of dope content. “How About Some Old S**t” is our way of shedding some light on some of our favorites pieces from the past, some that may still be new to you. The title of the post comes from an old Beastie Boys live performance bootleg that I got a few years ago in which MCA says, “how about some old s**t”, before they go into their classics. So, that’s the vibe. That’s the deal.
Yesterday the news broke that Mikkey Halsted’s new LP, The Force, is being produced entirely by No I.D. and Traxster. The news came via a video clip in which No I.D. and Traxster talk about their desire to work together on an album, and how they decided to link up with Mikkey Halsted for their collaborative album. A key deciding factor according to Traxster was Mikkey Halsted’s freestyle over Kanye West’s “Power”. Coincidentally, that freestyle was one Mikkey recorded for my ill fated mixtape with Columbia College, and one we released right here back in September of 2010. In case you missed it, check it below. I knew something good would come from that.
