Joseph Gordon-Levitt attached to Sandman adaptation

The Sandman adaptation just became more illustrious and real yesterday when everybody’s favorite actor Joseph Gordon-Levitt (Don Jon) officially signed on as the film’s producer. JGL will be joining writer David S. Goyer, but has been emphatic about the producer-only credit… for now. There’s a very good chance that JGL will also direct and star in the film, but negotiations for any further involvement are still some time away.

Having a visionary like JGL involved is a good sign for the film. With his interests encompassing all forms of art (illustrated by his founding of the hitRECord movement) and his devotion to artistic creativity, having him take a direct role in such a touchy, sensitive project like Sandman is a great sign for the film going forward. We’re still in the very early stages of the film, but my hopes for it have increased exponentially with JGL signing on. Hopefully, the stars will align and he’ll be confirmed to at least star as Morpheus. Fingers crossed!
