Digital Freshness is back April 6th at The Empty Bottle with performances by Kemba, Brittney Carter and Calid B with DJ Ca$h Era and our very own RTC on the 1’s and 2’s. After last month’s packed show with Open Mike Eagle we’re keeping the momentum rolling in April with a line up made of artists that are stand-alone talents and can all together they make a cohesive experience. Check out all of the artists in depth below and get your tickets here.
Bronx native Kemba made his first appearance in the public eye in 2016 with the release of his Negus EP and has been gaining steam since then dropping singles like “Exhale (ft. Smino)” in 2018 and this year’s “Deadass”. At the end of last year he signed with Republic Records and is expected to drop his next project Gilda this year. Since he comes from the home of hip hip it’s no surprise that he has such a classic sound. His songs are driven by bars more than they are focused on catchy hooks or melodies, not that he doesn’t also have those. Check out the lyric video for his latest release “Deadass”.

Brittney Carter is a rapper from the South Side who takes her experiences and uses them to tap into something larger than herself. Like some of the greatests, you can hear the truth in her lyrics in two ways. They can be a testimony to her own life and experiences, or they can be a magnifying glass to the world that she lives in. She’s been rapping for about 3 years now and made a name for herself early in a set it off cypher that went generated enough buzz to keep her going.

Calid B describes his music as AfroBang, a result of combining the music of the African diaspora. With an Ivorian father and an American mother it makes sense that his music would bridge the Atlantic, pulling influences from around the globe. Last summer he put out AfroBang 2: Son of Sogolon, a follow up to 2016’s AfroBang.
