Kid Cudi

You know a song is good when it ends with a mic drop… Kid Cudi apparently ended his a few night ago in Oregon with a preview of his forthcoming sophomore set, Man On The Moon 2: The Legend of Mr. Rager.

The album is scheduled for a 9.14.10 release via Universal/G.O.O.D. Music and what you see below is the LP’s first single entitled “Revolution”.  Cudi remarked a few months back that he’s in tune with what fans like most about his music and wrote that the new album “is dark by nature and instead of bringing you into my dreams like my first album, I’m bringing you into my reality, good and bad. It will explain more of who I am as well as pushing the envelope musically.”

By first accounts, “Revolution” sounds right in line with Cudi’s first LP, which contained a new sound in music, and especially for Hip Hop.  Some classify Cudi’s music (by some, I mean me) as an addition to the style of Paul Simon.  The track is sing-along ready with a good amount “whoas” and lyrics such as “I am happy today, it’s not like other days, so now I feel okay.”  Cudi’s first LP was one of my favorite releases of ’09, and while it may require a certain mood, I’m looking forward to more new music.
