Lush LIfe

I would need to check with GLC, but I’m almost certain that this could constitute “Church On The Move.”  We did a First Look on Lushlife this week, and his people just sent over this video of the man himself revisiting “Dead Presidents”.  Lush takes the Jay-Z jam and performs it inside a church on a piano.  Very God like…Check it out below.

It take balls to spit lines like “Bout to start bitchin’ ain’t you / Ready to start snitchin’ ain’t you /  I forgive your weak ass hustlin’ just ain’t you” in a church (backed by nothing but a grand piano, no less) but there is something genuinely reverent about Lushlife’s reading of Jay-Z’s classic “Dead Presidents” in a Philadelphia sanctuary. Continuing his Redux video series which presents cover versions of classic hip-hop songs performed live and in one take, Lushlife again demonstrates a seamless melding of b-boy braggadocio and classically trained flourish.  His Cassette City album, featuring Camp Lo, Elzhi, Ariel Pink, and Greg Saunier of Deerhoof is out now on Rapster.
