Wanted and the Kick-Ass films have displayed just how violent Mark Millar’s writing can get (even if the film adaptations of these books nerfed the shock and awe found in their pages). Most mainstream film fans only know of Millar’s name because of Angelina Jolie bending bullets or Hit-Girl’s extreme violence, yet may not know his extensive history in comic book writing that includes major runs for both Marvel and DC, as well as a few issues of England’s Sonic the Hedgehog comic, Sonic the Comic (which is completely separate from the ongoing American/Archie Sonic the Hedgehog). With his next book, Millar is changing the script up.
Entitled Kindergarten Heroes, the book is about a kindergarten that superheroes’ children attend. While the book hasn’t been published yet, Fox has already green-lit a film adaptation with Simon Kinberg set to produce and Carter Blanchard writing the script. The family-friendly film aims to have the Pixar charm that attracts both children and adults. Given the age group of the kids, I wouldn’t be surprised if the film is CG-animated. Let the speculation begin!
