Japanese Pop Stars

Let me introduce you to the Japanese Popstars, who aren’t actually Japanese at all. At least they are not ethically Japanese, maybe in spirit… The trio come from Northern Ireland and issue a brand of electronic music that has taken them across the globe, as well as allowed them to work on official remixes for artists such as Beyonce, Daft Punk, and The Gorillaz.  This June they will release their second album, Controlling Your Allegiance, which is their first using vocalists.  The album features Jon Spencer, Robert Smith of The Cure, M83 and others.  Japanese Popstars are a promising crew, and their videos do a lot to add to their records.  “Destroy” features a hallucinating Jon Spencer wandering through the city, while their video for “Let Go” is an brilliant animated clip.
