When “This Is It” leaked online yesterday it was billed as Michael Jackson’s final recording. One small detail was left off most posts, that the song wasn’t exactly new, or exactly just Michael Jackson’s. According to the New York Times, the song was co-written by Paul Anka, who is going to be receiving his credit as well as half of the song’s royalties. The song was also recorded by the singer Safire in 1991 under the title “I Never Heard”…I never hear either, Safire…Anka’s gonna be sitting pretty on this one, he may also get licensing money and all that.
