Both of The Cool Kids hit Twitter to let everyone know that they are now free agents. It’s been known in Chicago for a while that the Cool Kids continued dropping mixtapes because of severe label issues. They have been in a legal battle for years, preventing them from releasing an LP. It seems like they’ve reached the light at the end of the tunnel, as Michael Rocks tweeted “In other news me and @chuckisdope are no longer in record contract hell… “give us us free” hahahaha”..
Let’s see what happens with this. I can see a bidding war ahead, especially since the Cool Kids have proven that they can tour successfully, they have built a large following, and are very well respected by other artists etc. I expect this will also set the table for the various solo works that have been buzzing around the Chicago underground scene, especially Michael Rocks’ project with Tye Hill and The Productionix…
